I just installed the Pro version. After using the free version for 30 days with no problems, I have one with Pro already.

If I click on any of the "more info ..." links on the Getting Started panel, I get an error complaining about a missing file. The file (fmf_documentation.qhc) is, in fact, in the indicated directory. I used this feature often with the free version.

Tried to attach a screenshot, no luck there it seems.

Can anyone advise? Thanks.

Does the problem appear only on the "more info" links?
I mean, is the main help menu working ok or not?
(I suppose it's not)

What is the exact version of your operating system?
(example: Windows XP, Windows 8, Mac OS Snow Leopard, etc)

You can sent us a screenshot by email to: support[at]findmyfont.com
(replace [at] with @)

PS: Another question:
When you installed Find my Font, did you use the same user account
you're using now or a different (e.g. an admin) account?

The help subsystem creates a cache copy of the help file for performance reasons.
If this copy is somehow destroyed, the help stops functioning.

Try to locate the following file (by replacing <username> bellow with your Windows username):

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\FindMyFont\v3.1.00\fmf_documentation.qhc

If the file or even the directory exists, perform the following steps:

1. Exit Find my Font application (if already running)

2. Delete the following directory:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\FindMyFont\v3.1.00

3. Restart Find my Font to see if problem is solved

Please write a response here to indicate if this solves your issue, to help future readers.

We are really sorry for the inconvenience
and thank you for reporting this issue

Important Note: Take into account that in order to view/explore the folders bellow "C:\Users\<username>\AppData" hierarchy you may require to change your folder view settings by setting "Show Hidden files, folders and drives" = Yes.
To do so, follow the next steps:
a) Open Windows Explorer in any folder
b) Press "Alt" key to show the Top-Menu
c) Go to menu "Tools" => "Folder Options" and click on "View" tab
d) Set the "Hidden files and folders" option to "Show Hidden files, folders and drives"

I have done as you suggested, but it had no effect on the problem. Still getting same error.

I'm sorry to hear that, because I'm actually running out of suggestions, I can't imagine anything else to cause this issue.
You could also try the following, but I really can't predict if it'll fix anything:

1. Uninstall any Find my Font edition(s) from your computer
(Free-Trial & Pro).

2. Delete the whole cache directory:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\FindMyFont

3. Re-install Find my Font Pro edition

Okay, I've made some progress.

Uninstall, cleanup and reinstall had no effect. Still same probem. But ... when I copied the entire Find my Font directory from c:\program files x(86) to another directory -- now the Help feature works. So the problem seems to be the "c:\Program Files (x86)" directory.

Windows 8 treats this as a read-only directory. I did some research, apparently there are many problems with 32-bit software being installed into this directory. Most advice was to install into another location, and the problems are avoided. I wanted to do this on the re-install, but the installer forces installation into \Program files (x86) and doesn't allow for install into an alternate location. Perhaps this could be changed in a future release?

In any case, things are working much better now. Thanks for your help and suggestions.
