Identify Fonts From Images With FindMyFont’s New 1M+ Font Database
Summary
We’ve taken a huge step forward in our mission to make Find my Font the most powerful tool to identify fonts from images. After months of intense development, major infrastructure upgrades, and algorithm improvements, we’re excited to announce that FindMyFont’s online font database now includes over 1 million fonts—covering almost all fonts in existence. This upgrade is now live for all users on desktop and smart devices.
Identify Fonts From Images Using a Database of Over 1 Million Fonts
Until recently, Find my Font’s online database contained around 130,000 fonts. While already impressive, we knew we could do better. Fonts are being created every day, and designers, typographers, and creatives need a tool that can keep up.
So several months ago, we made a clear decision:
Find My Font would become the best font identification application available.
To make that happen, we went back to the drawing board.
What Changed?
- Over 1 Million Fonts
We expanded our proprietary font database from 130K to more than 1,000,000 fonts. Almost all fonts in existence can now be identified, dramatically increasing the chances of finding an exact match from any image. - No More Duplicates
We carefully analyzed and removed duplicate fonts, ensuring cleaner results and more accurate matches. - Faster, Smarter Matching
Our proprietary font-matching algorithm has been significantly improved. Despite the massive increase in database size, results are delivered faster than ever, thanks to smarter indexing and upgraded server resources. - Server Infrastructure Upgrade
To support the increased load and ensure smooth performance worldwide, we upgraded our font identification servers. This means quicker responses and a better experience for all users.
Smarter Algorithms to Identify Fonts From Images Faster and More Accurately
Beyond the database expansion, we introduced several important algorithm updates that greatly improve identification quality:
- Slanted Text Detection
The new algorithm automatically detects if sample letters are slanted and calculates their angle, resulting in far more accurate matches for italic or skewed text. - Capital Glyph Recognition
Find my Font now correctly recognizes capital letter glyphs even when they are stored under lowercase characters in the font file—a common issue that previously affected results. - Clear License Information
Each identified font now displays its exact license type, such as:- Commercial
- Free download
- Free for commercial use
- Direct Download Links for Free Fonts
For almost all free fonts, Find my Font now provides direct download links, saving time and eliminating guesswork.
Available Now for All Users
We’re proud to announce that this massive online font database upgrade is now fully live and available to all Find my Font users, across both desktop and smart devices.
Whether you’re a designer, developer, publisher, or typography enthusiast, Find my Font is now more powerful, more accurate, and more comprehensive than ever before.
This is a major milestone for Softonium Developments—and just the beginning of what’s next.
